I got bored with the green/tan color that was here for a while so I decided to change it. If you were on the site this morning you probably saw me messing around with the CSS and images. These colors are much easier on the eyes. I’m sure I will be tweaking it slightly over the next few days so please don’t worry if something is totally screwed up for a few minutes on your next visit. lol

As for blog posts, more will be coming soon! I didn’t forget about the site. Razz

Luckily, John has posted a few times and kept some new content coming. I appreciate it. And soon we will be posting much more frequently again.

Life has been hectic in general the last few months, and when I have free time I have been totally engrossed in a few Steam games such as Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source. They are totally addicting, seriously.

As I said, expect more frequent posts again soon. I know I still have a few loyal visitors at least and I don’t want to disappoint. Wink

The first major change will be the addition of a new blog author, John, a lifelong friend of mine. He is knowledgeable in many of the same things that I am so I asked if he would like to write some blog posts here. As with many of my posts, they will mainly be technical in nature.

I hope everyone enjoys the new changes along the way. There may be some slight layout changes over the next couple of days (I hope) to better accommodate the fact that I will have another blog author here now.

I thought it was working great. Barely any spam comments even made it to the Akismet plugin, but I didn’t realize how many actual commenters were unable to post on my site because of it.

About a month ago I set up another blog for one of my good friends. Many people kept telling her that they were unable to post comments on her blog and they kept getting a message saying that their post looked “spammy” and would not even submit at all. Until then, I didn’t realize that WP-SpamFree was blocking so many people from commenting. I just thought people didn’t care to comment on my site for the most part. That wasn’t the case…

The amount of comments on both her site and mine have really increased since I disabled WP-SpamFree on both of them.  This is just a heads up to those who use the plugin. It seems to cause more problems than it is worth. I highly recommend that if you want people to be able to comment on your site that you disable the plugin right away.

I have found that using the Akismet and NoSpamNX plugins together work great. I rarely have any comments that need moderated.  Just make sure your theme/template is coded correctly and the NoSpamNX plugin works perfectly with no modifications.

The latest version of Wordpress doesn’t like something about my current install resulting in nothing working. So, I plan on trying to update it again soon. The site will most likely be down for a few hours minimum, unless I get lucky and can get it working correctly quickly.

So if you visit and the site is down, it won’t be permanent…just hang in there.
