I think the biggest difference is the built in compass. I am finding that tons of navigation apps really take advantage of the 3G network with the compass function.

The 2nd probably is just the video feature, but I know you can get apps for the 3G to allow video recording. I haven’t used the video camera much, just for a few tests to see how editing and scrubbing video went. The camera takes amazing pictures even without a flash. I’m not sure if the 3G has this feature, but when I take photos in a dark environment, but if I focus on the subject the phone adjusts the settings to make the photo more appealing.

@beth: It depends on how frequently you will use it, and the video quality you are looking for. These cameras are great quality for the price. The Zi8 and Playsport for example, are also able to use an external mic to record far superior audio than what is built in.

I’ve been so tempted by these little camera’s for making how-to videos for YouTube but go back and forth about it since my camera takes video. Is it really worth it?
