Even though it was already in the HFS+ filesystem, as soon as I plugged it in I used the Disk Utility and reformated/partitioned it. I have read about people having problems with Time Machine doing the initial backup (over 10gb) on a hdd that doesn’t use the GUID partition scheme. Rather than worrying about it I figured it was easier just to make sure it was right before I enabled Time Machine.

(1 votes, average: 3 out of 5)Last night I ordered an external HDD for my iMac so that I can take advantage of TimeMachine. I thought I’d give the Iomega Ultramax Firewire 400/USB 2.0 a try. It should arrive some time next week. So expect a review on it in a couple weeks once I can gather some information on it.
Oh, and if you haven’t read it already, please take a look at my iMac review.

(1 votes, average: 4 out of 5)Yesterday was Join Hands Day so I volunteered like normal. This year a bunch of us from WPA worked with others on a project ran by the ACGSP.
Heidelberg and Carnegie both donated houses to the group completely free of charge with the stipulation that they would be gutted and repaired so that low income families have the opportunity to rent the houses. These areas were flooded from the storms that hit us a couple years ago from Hurricane Ivan.
Anyways, it was actually fun. I got to tear apart the inside of a house. We got the living room and the kitchen completely gutted down to the studs. It was a bitch carrying 2 hot water tanks up from the basement because the stairway had to be about 2 feet wide.
The only thing that was slightly annoying about the day was when I stepped on a rusty nail. But, whatever…

For about 6 months I had been wanting to purchase a new computer, but I kept holding off for some reason. When I heard the rumors about the iMac update, I made up my mind that I would finally purchase one.
